The festival is celebrated with melas which are called Nobanno Mela. Villagers and residents of the two main religious groups join the festival with equal participation. The festival receives a lot of support from the creative army of Bengali culture. Several poets, musicians, bauls and painters flock to these mass gatherings.

Nowadays, Nobanno Festival celebrates Bengali (1st day of Agrahayan) every year (16 June in 2020) in Dhaka, organized by Jatiya Nabanna Utshab Udjapan Parshad (National Harvest Festival committee) since 1998. There are a large number of cultural activists, organizations and perform in a one-day festival.

People from several villages of Howrah and even other districts of West Bengal come here. People don't just come to visit the Mela. Besides, they participate in many cultural programs and competitions like 'Pithe Making' (preparation of different kinds of Bengali cakes), Seat-and Draw, Senior Citizens' Walking Competition, etc. An “Art-Camp” can attract people with creative minds. where artists from different states will participate. Some rare objects from rural Bengal like the “Dhenki” (old fashioned domestic rice mill), paddy of different varieties coming directly from the farmers' house are on display in the exhibition grounds.

You can enjoy delicious Bengali dishes like Pati-Sapta, Payesh (the latest addition is “Vegetable Payesh”), Jilipipi (not Jilipi), etc. during the festival. The centuries-old culture and heritage of Bengal will be introduced to you in the form of Baul singing, Chhou dance, Jatra, Tarja, Kobi-gaan, etc. These artists come from different parts of the state to express their talent and expertise in front of thousands of appreciative gatherings. Additionally, you can renovate your folk arts collection from the “exhibition-sale” stands of handicrafts made by rural artisans.
