Chavang Kut November 1st

Chavang Kut is celebrated on 1st November to honour the blessings of the deity for a good harvest every year. Chavang Kut, popularly known as Kut festival. It is celebrated by the tribes of Kuki-Chin-Mizo groups of Manipur.

Chavang Kut is celebrated on November 1 to honor the deity’s blessings for a good harvest every year. It also marks the end of the harvest season. Roughly translated, “Chavang” means “autumn” and Kut means “harvest.”

In the past, the Kut festival lasted for several days and the community performed many rites. After the main necessary rituals, the village priest distributes Ju (rice beer) to the villagers and other visitors.

The celebration continues with cultural performances of folk dances and traditional songs. These beautiful events are accompanied by sports competitions among the locals and large and magnificent parties.
