Eid al-Adha

Today, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice) or Eid el-Kebir (the Great Feast). This feast commemorates the strength of Abraham's faith in his God, symbolized by the episode in which he accepts to sacrifice, on God's order, his son Ishmael before the arrival of the Archangel Gabriel.
