Eid al-Adha

Today, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha (feast of sacrifice) or Eid el-Kebir (the great festival). This festival commemorates the strength of Abraham's faith in his God, symbolized by the episode where he agrees to sacrifice, on God's order, his son Ishmael before the arrival of the archangel Gabriel.
