Malkh, the journey of the Sun

We call Mythology Nakh the myths and legends Nakh peoples. This is a group of peoples of the Caucasus speaking related languages and sharing a number of common cultural characteristics. Formerly more widespread, it is now mainly made up of the Chechens and the Ingush who are two Vainakh peoples. The Bats of Georgia constitute a third Nakh (but not Vainakh) people.

During the ceremonies, the supplicants turned towards the east. Still in the architecture of Nakh, temples and house facades were oriented towards the east. The Nakh believed that the Sun visited his mother, Aza, at the summer and winter solstices. The journey took him six months. The Nakhs used the fylfot as a symbol of Deela-Malkh on their buildings and tombstones.
