Spendarmad Jashan is the annual celebration of Spenta Armaiti among Zoroastrians. Spenta Armaiti is the Amesha Spenta, or Immortal Saint, who created the earth and is the patron saint of devotion and piety. The fifth day of each Zoroastrian month is sacred to Spenta Armaiti, as is the entire twelfth month, Spendarmad. Spendarmad Jashan is celebrated at the conjunction of the two, on the fifth day of Spendarmad.
Zoroastrians currently have three divergent calendars. The current date of Spendarmad Jashan in each of them (according to the Gregorian calendar) is: Fasli — February 18; Qadimi — June 20; Shenshai — July 20.
Spendarmad Jashan, the consecration of Spenta Armaiti
The Amesha Spenta (Holy Immortals, Beneficent Immortals) are beneficial geniuses of the Zoroastrianism. These are entities surrounding Ahura Mazda and representing both the qualities of god and man. The first three entities are sons of Ahura Mazdâ; on the other hand, Haurvatât and Ameretât are gifts distributed by Ahura Mazdâ; and Spenta Armaiti is a human work, with the help of Ahura Mazdâ.
Spentâ Ârmaiti is the Holy Devotion, Beneficial Perfect Thought.
